My biggest tip for the preparation is to be open for everything. I looked through almost 20-30 universities before deciding on the final one. However, even after deciding you have to be flexible because there is no guarantee that you will be selected for your nr. 1 priority. It will take some time and effort to figure everything out (all the paperwork) but in the end the process is quite easy and its absolutely worth it!
I didn´t concern myself enough with my accomodation and that was my biggest problem in the end. I stayed in Student Depot which by the way is a really nice and well equipped private dorm in Kraków but its really expensive in comparison to other options. Some of my friends during my stay searched for an apartment on their own (instead of a dorm) and they paid 40-50% less than me. Another tip would be from my side to look for something pretty near to the campus, it will help a lot during the erasmus.
The academic life was awesome at the university. UEK has a beautiful campus and they have everything that a student needs. The teaching style is a bit different than at WU, but the professors are really helpful, understanding and nice to all the students. I didn´t hear anything negative about any of the courses and they have a lot to choose from so that was a big plus for me.
for the entire exchange
Poland is a very safe and overall clean country. The people are very friendly to everybody, the only problem is sometimes the language barrier if you are outside of the university. The public transport is pretty solid and you can reach almost everything with the trams and busses, the only problem was during the night, but uber/bolt in poland is really cheap so getting home was never a problem. Kraków has also a lot of events and sport options to select from
If I had to highlight one thing that really made my exchange special then it would be the friends I made along the way. I managed to build some connections which I hope will last through my whole life. We managed to build a friends group, which really made my whole experience by a lot better.
