1. Preparation

In the interview, try to be yourself and find reasons why you are motivated to study abroad. Practice your English skills before the semester abroad.

2. Accommodation

I struggled a lot to find a good accommodation and it really is difficult to find something good. I heard before that the housing market in Rome can be quite tricky, so be aware of scams and try to book something through Spotahome or HousingAnywhere. I lived in a shared apartment with 3 other people and one kitchen, one bathroom. The apartment was located in Parioli, so very close to the Romania campus and I also felt very safe there. (also in the night - because Parioli ia rather a wealthy area). One tip from my side to start to look early for an accommodation.

3. Academic life at host university

There are actually 3 campi, but most of the business courses are located in the biggest campus (Via Romania). There is a private shuttle bus that goes brings you to the other campus in around 10min and it can be booked beforehand with the LUISS app. There is only a small library and besides from that some study rooms but unfortunately also only with few seats available. The teaching styles definetely depend on the course itself, some bachelor courses tend to be easy, while master courses are sometimes more intense. Courses are generally structured similarly compared to WU courses, also with presentations, essays, attendance, group work etc. In the end of the semester there are two exam periods.

5. Every day life in the host country

Public transport is really bad in Rome. The buses are always late. Once I waited one hour. Also the intervalls are way longer compared to Vienna. In the first months I had an E-Scooter pass, because it is really easy to get around and also fast. (The monthly pass for public transportation is 35€ and e-scooter pass is 30-40€). The areas where the university is located and also were I lived is really safe. Only around the main station (Termini) I sometimes felt a bit unsafe during the night. There are a lot of activities offered by ESN (erasmus students network) like parties, trips, get-togethers, football and others. I also joined yoga and pilates classes in the Villa Borghese park.

6. Testimonial

I can definetly recommend to study in Rome - it is such a beautiful city and has so much to offer. Studying in an international environment allowed me to engage with students from many different backgrounds, which broadened my perspective both personally and academically. What made it especially special was stepping outside my comfort zone every day and also learning something new about myself.
