Prepare for bad weather(lots of rain - bring multiple pairs of shoes and rain jackets..) Travelling from vienna is cheap and easy. multiple ryanair and austrian airlines flights each day, often under 50€. And transport from Copenhagen airport is super easy as the airport has a metro station.
I stayed at the Svanevej Apartments, a student housing facility that accommodates roughly 20 students. The campus was roughly 15-minute by bike away and a big Metro and S-train station was only a minute away. The city center is reachable within a 15 to 20-minute cycle and I felt completely safe in the area at all hours. A big supermarket and gym were also just a minute away. The room itslef was private room with an ensuite bathroom and a kitchenette equipped with a microwave, fridge, and a small cooking plate. The "bed" was 180x80cm and rather uncomfortable. The residence also had a larger communal kitchen and a common area as well as a terrace for all residents. The laundry station were the only major flaw with only two washing machines for the entire building. The rent was approximately €1,000 per month. The move-out process was easy, and I received my full deposit back without any issues. Concluding, its a solid option with a private bathroom and small kitchen but there are better options out there.
The main difference was no attendance requirements for all classes and mainly online written exams. I took all my exams back home as they were in January and my las lecture was mid december. Campus is very modern and nice, solid 24/7 library. Own football pitch, which we used a lot. Mensa is relativley cheap for danish stnadards and very good food. Mio Pizza is also a good option for eating close to campus. Lectures are typically designed to be more interactive and in smaller groups, but as mentioned there is no attendance required. Lots of courses available with online exams. I would choose those, as some physical exams (especially Q2 and full semester courses) might be in January and youd have to travel back for those as lectures end early december.
for the entire exchange
Public transport is expensive roughly 2,40€ per ride and no monthly or student tickets, so I rented a bike via Swapfiets. Copenhagen is completly safe. As for social activities, drinking is one of the main things we did the entire semester, lots of bars. During the warmer months you should spent as much time outside as possible as it gets very cold and rainy soon. Lots of sport options availble.
Summer days at the water were definitely the highlights. Everybody is outside enjoying the sun - you should definitely do the same!! Copenhagen is ideal for short trips, cheap flights/trains almost everywhere and no attendance, so we travelled alot. And rent a private boat for a couple hours and explor the city from the water.
